Terriers Earn Four Gold Medals on Day One of Patriot League Championships

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — The Boston University track & field program opened day one of the Patriot League Championships with four gold-medal performances and two additional podium appearances. At the close of day one, the women's squad is in first with 72 points and the men's group sits in seventh with six points.

GOLD STANDARD

Junior Ellie Roan kicked off the day with a 20.43m mark in the weight throw, winning a gold medal in the event and breaking her own school record.
In the long jump, junior Peace Omonzane won the event with a 6.20m jump on her fifth jump, giving her a school record, meet record and her second gold medal in the event in as many years.
Freshman Olivia Hughes scored 3,581 points in the pentathlon, winning the high jump (1.64m) and shot put (11.97m) and finishing second in the 60m hurdles (9.05) to win gold in the event.
Hughes became the first Terrier to win the event since 2020 and is the third Terrier to ever do it - her performance is also fifth all-time at BU.
In the 5000m, junior Vera Sjöberg won her fourth Patriot League gold medal with a time of 16:21.28, setting a facility record at the Wesley A. Brown Field House.

HARDWARE STORE

Senior Jamie Chamberlain got in on the medal action with a silver medal in the long jump, reaching 5.97m, tying the seventh-best mark all-time at BU.
The 4x800m relay squad of Leonni Griffin, Olivia Dodds, Lily Borin and Maura Woodland-Medenilla combined to finish with bronze after posting a 9:03.56 time, the fifth-best mark in program history.
