March 11, 2025 | Women's Tennis
MIAMI — Despite winning the doubles point, the Boston University women's tennis team was bested in all finished singles matches and fell to the No. 63 Florida International Panthers in Miami on Tuesday.
The Terriers cruised to the first doubles win with a 6-2 win at line two from freshman Madison Liu and sophomore Blanka DeMicheli. The squad finished off the doubles point with a 6-2 win at number three doubles, with senior Nina Gulbransen and junior Emily Zhao taking a 6-2 win. The Terriers could not complete the doubles sweep, however, as junior Uma Bakaityte and freshman Gabriella Mikaul battled before ultimately falling 6-7 at first doubles.
From there, the Panthers turned out four straight singles wins to end the match, beginning with line two, where Liu fell 6-1, 6-3. DeMicheli found herself in a battle with FIU's Katerina Mandelikova at line four, but lost 7-6, 6-3.
At line five, Rai Rhea had gone to a third set with her opponent and was winning 1-0 in the set, but her match went unfinished.
Next up, the Terriers continue their Floridian travels as they take on 29th-ranked Florida Atlantic at 10 a.m. in Boca Raton, Florida, Wednesday, March 12.
