BOSTON – Riding its longest home win streak in 29 years at 11 consecutive victories, the No. 4 seeded Boston University men's basketball team will open the Patriot League tournament by hosting No. 5 Navy Thursday night with tip-off set for 7 p.m.

The teams will meet in the postseason for the fourth time since 2020 with BU owning a 2-1 record thanks to quarterfinal victories in both 2020 and 2024. Navy is one of three squads to eliminate the Terriers in overtime over the last three years with the Mids prevailing in the 2022 PL semifinals. Army (2023 quarterfinals) and Lehigh (2024 semifinals) are the other two squads to make BU suffer heartbreak.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • Avoiding the first round for the ninth time in 11 years, BU is 54-37 (.593) all-time in conference tourneys and 11-10 in the PL with a pair of title game appearances (2014, 2020). BU and Colgate are the only two teams to have participated in all 12 quarterfinals since the Terriers joined the PL in the summer of 2013.
  • The seven-time conference champion Terriers are 27-16 (.628) all-time in quarterfinal games following last year's 70-61 home win over Navy. BU is 11-4 (.733) in home PL matchups with OT losses in the 2017 and 2024 semifinals.
  • BU is 2-1 all-time as a No. 4 seed, reaching the 2010 America East title game at No. 2 Vermont thanks an upset victory over No. 1 Stony Brook.
  • Having scored the game-winning jumper in each of the last three home games, including Saturday's 66-64 win over Lafayette with a field goal at 2.7 seconds, 2025 All-PL Second Team honoree Kyrone Alexander leads BU in both points (12.8 ppg) and in rebounds (5.1 rpg).
  • 2025 All-PL Third Team honoree Miles Brewster leads BU in both assists (2.3 apg) and steals (1.3 spg) while averaging 10.4 ppg, and senior Malcolm Chimezie (8.2 ppg, 5.0 rpg) owns a team-high 23 blocks.
  • 2025 PL All-Rookie Team member Azmar Abdullah scored a career-tying 21 points at Navy and is fifth on the team at 6.8 ppg. Classmate Ben Defty averages 4.7 ppg but has stepped up over the last five contests, averaging 10.4 ppg.
