Lightweight Rowing Travels to Knecht Cup This Weekend

BOSTON – Traveling for the first time in the 2025 spring slate, the Boston University lightweight rowing program makes its way to the Knecht Cup Regatta, competing from April 12-13 on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J.
BU's first race of the weekend is at 7:54 a.m. on Saturday, April 12. The Terriers will race a total of eight crews in the Lightweight 8+, Lightweight 4+, Varsity 8+, Second Varsity 8+, Varsity 8+ and Women's Doubles.

- 8:10 a.m. – Women's Double (Heat 4)
- 8:50 a.m. – Varsity 4+ (Heat 3)
- 10:42 a.m. – Varsity 8+ (Heat 1)
- 2:05 p.m. – Second Varsity 8+ (Heat 1)
- 8:02 & 8:10 a.m. – Women's Double Petite & Grand Finals
- 8:26 a.m. – Lightweight 4+ Final
- 9:22, 9:30 & 9:38 a.m. – Varsity 4+ Finals
- 10:50 a.m. – Lightweight 8+ Final – Danielle Kousoulis Memorial Trophy
- 11:22 & 11:30 a.m. – Second Varsity 8+ Petite & Grand Finals
- 12:34, 12:42 & 12:50 p.m. – Varsity 8+ Finals
- The Terriers swept three races against Bates on April 5 on the Charles River.
- BU's Varsity 8+ posted a nearly 20-second margin of victory, clocking in at 6:54.4.
- The Second Varsity 8+ and Varsity 4+ crews each bested a pair of Bobcat boats.
- Weather limited last year's Knecht Cup to one day.
- Nonetheless, BU's Lightweight 8+ captured the Danielle Kousoulis Memorial Trophy in a time of 6:44.32 to defeat Harvard-Radcliffe, Georgetown and MIT.
- The Varsity 8+ and Second Varsity 8+ both finished third in their finals.
- All three doubles crews captured first place in their respective heats.
- In the most recent Pocock CRCA Lightweight Coaches Poll, released on April 8, BU's 2x and 8+ remained in first and second, respectively.
- The Terriers 4+ is slotted in third.
- BU returns to the Charles River for one final home race, taking on Harvard-Radcliffe and MIT for the Beanpot on Saturday, April 19.
