Sjöberg, Omonzane Garner PL Weekly Awards

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Junior Vera Sjöberg was named Patriot League Track Athlete of the Week and classmate Peace Omonzane earned PL Field Athlete of the Week, the league office annoucned Tuesday morning.
Sjöberg, in her first competition of the 2025 outdoor season, ran a school-record time of 4:09.79 in the 1500m at the Wake Forest Invite on Friday evening, besting her previous time of 4:13.05. That time is first in the Patriot League this season and ranks seventh in the NCAA East Region in the event.
This is the Stockholm, Sweden native's fifth outdoor weekly award in her three years of competition.
Omonzane had another impressive day of jumping at the Holy Cross Invitational, reaching 6.19m in the long jump and 12.20m in the triple jump. Neither were her season bests, but her long jump would rank first in the Patriot League. Her season bests of 6.24m and 12.85m rank 18th in the long jump and 23rd in the triple jump, respectively.
This is the Brampton, Ontario native's third time winning a weekly award after taking two honors in 2024.
The Terriers next compete at the Penn Relays on Thursday, April 24 and the Ken O'Brien Pre-Conference Meet on Saturday, April 26.
