Terriers Excel in Weekend Races at Stanford, Charles River

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. – Across multiple coasts, the Boston University lightweight rowing program posted a productive weekend in a dual race at Stanford and a Lightweight 4+ race against MIT and Gordon on the Charles River.

At Redwood Shores on Sunday, April 27, the Terriers experienced cloudy conditions but otherwise calm waters. BU sent out three lightweight crews: the 8+, 4+ and Double.

The Lightweight 2x featuring the duo of Kylie Lough (bow) and Emilia Vukasinovic (stroke) started the day with a performance of 8:36.4, besting the Cardinal time by over 14 seconds.

BU's Lightweight 4+, coxed by Heather Shinn and stroked by Cece Mason, also claimed victory in a time of 8:01.86, while Stanford clocked in at 8:13.63.

The morning closed with the Lightweight 8+, coxed by Mayberry Mark and stroked by Mia Seibert. BU gradually gained a lead with open water and crossed the finish line in 7:02 flat. The Cardinal crossed in 7:10.2.

In the three consecutive seasons that BU and Stanford have squared off in a dual race, the Terrier 4+ has triumphed all three times. The Double has won two straight races, while the 8+ notched its first victory on Sunday in that span.

Back on Saturday, April 26, the Terriers rowed a 4+ on the Charles River against two crews each from MIT and Gordon. BU, coxed by Lylah Nag and stroked by Jasmine Wu, finished second with a time of 8:43.8, trailing only MIT's top crew and ahead of both Gordon boats.

BU regroups to compete at the Eastern Sprints on Sunday, May 4 at Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass.
