Women’s Rowing Heads to Patriot League Championship

BOSTON – Looking to defend its title, the Boston University women's rowing team is set for the 2025 Patriot League Championship on the Cooper River in Pennsauken, N.J. on Friday (May 16).
The day begins with the morning heats, starting with the Second Varsity 4+ at 8 a.m. which is in the championship for the first time. The top three crews from each heat will advance to their respective Grand Finals, beginning at 2:10 p.m. The rest move to the Petite Finals, which start at 1:30 p.m.
Both sessions will air on ESPN+, with the morning broadcast set to start at 7:55 a.m. The afternoon session will begin at 1:30 p.m. before the 2V4+ Petite Final.
The Terriers enter the championship as the No. 1 seed for all four crews among the nine-team field. BU searches for its third title in four years and second in a row.
Last year, BU took home the Patriot League crown with 54 team points. BU swept the Grand Finals for the first time since joining the Patriot League to claim its third-ever league title and receive the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.
With the addition of the 2V4+ into the championship, the points system has changed. The top placement in the 1V8+ will claim 180 points, the 2V8+ is worth 90 points, the 1V4+ can score 45 points and the 2V4+ is worth 4.5 points.
The Terriers enter Friday after competing at the Eastern Sprints on May 4. BU took first in three Petite Finals, highlighted by the Varsity 8+ which posted the fourth-fastest time across all finals.
Should BU win the Patriot League championship and earn the automatic bid, it will travel to the 2025 NCAA Championship at Mercer Lake in West Windsor, N.J. from May 30-June 1.
