Lightweight Rowing Heads to Eastern Sprints on Sunday

BOSTON – The Boston University lightweight rowing program defends its 2024 Konrad Ulbrich Team Trophy with the Eastern Sprints on Sunday, May 4 at Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass.
The 50th edition of the sprints will air live on Overnght.com, which requires a paid subscription. Live results can be found on the Quinsigamond Rowing Association's website. Fans looking to attend the regatta can visit the Women's Sprints page on the IRA's website using the link above.

- 12:50 p.m. – Lightweight 2x "B" Final
- 1:00 p.m. – Lightweight 4+ "B" Final
- 1:10 p.m. – Lightweight 2x Grand Final
- 1:20 p.m. – Lightweight 4+ Grand Final
- 1:30 p.m. – Lightweight 8+ Grand Final
- BU traveled west to face Stanford in a dual race for the third straight year and swept all three races.
- The Terrier Lightweight 2x posted the largest margin of victory at +14.30 seconds.
- The Lightweight 8+ won with a time of 7:02.0, while the 4+ was victorious in 8:01.86.
- BU's Lightweight 8+ remains second in the CRCA Pocock Lightweight Coaches Poll as of April 29.
- The 4+ is third, but is just two points behind Wisconsin and Princeton, who are tied for first.
- The 2x is atop the poll and three points ahead of the second-place Tigers.
- BU's top 2x will square off against Princeton, Harvard-Radcliffe, Wisconsin, Georgetown, Stanford and Gordon. The "B" crew will race against Princeton and Wisconsin.
- The 4+ "A" crew and the 8+ will compete with Princeton, Wisconsin, Radcliffe, Georgetown and Stanford. The 4+ "B" will line up with Radcliffe and three Wisconsin boats.
- The Terriers earned their first Ulbrich trophy since 2019 and third in program history after pacing the field with 45 team points, one ahead of the eventual IRA national champion Tigers, at the 2024 Eastern Sprints.
- BU's top Lightweight 2x and 4+ boats captured gold medals after narrowly beating out Princeton and Radcliffe, respectively.
- The Terrier Lightweight 8+ earned bronze as Princeton and Radcliffe finished first and second, respectively.
- The final race of the 2024-25 season will be the IRA National Championship Regatta, held from May 30 to June 1 at the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J.
