Women’s Rowing Prepped for Eastern Sprints Sunday

BOSTON – The Boston University women's rowing program is set to compete at the Eastern Sprints on Lake Quinsigamond on May 4 in Worcester, Mass.
The 50th edition of the sprints will air live on Overnght.com, which requires a paid subscription. Live results can be found on the Quinsigamond Rowing Association's website. - 9:00 a.m. – Second Varsity 8+ – Heat 2
- 9:20 a.m. – Varsity 4+ – Heat 1
- 10:00 a.m. – Second Varsity 4+ – Heat 1
- 10:40 a.m. – Third Varsity 8+ – Heat 2
- 2:00 p.m. – Third Varsity 4+ finals
- 2:30 p.m. – Third Varsity 8+ finals
- 3:10 p.m. – Second Varsity 4+ finals
- 3:50 p.m. – Varsity 4+ finals

LAST TIME OUT
- BU's top squads last competed at the Lake Wheeler Invitational, finishing sixth overall out of 18 schools.
- The Varsity 8+ turned in three top three finishes, highlighted by its second-place finish in 6:28.481, just narrowly behind Duke.
- The Second Varsity 4+ also finished in the top three in all races it competed in, including a first-place finish in its first race of the weekend. The boat was an honorable mention for the Patriot League Boat of the Week.
THE FIELD
- The Terriers will face 13 different opponents in its heats before moving on to finals, three of which are Patriot League foes and four of which are ranked.
- BU's Varsity 8+ will compete in heat two against Brown, Columbia, Boston College, Drexel, Colgate and UConn.
- The Terriers' Second Varsity 8+ will race head-to-head with Brown, Columbia, URI, Drexel, Holy Cross and UConn in heat two.
- BU, Brown, Dartmouth, Boston College and Drexel will race in the second heat of the Third Varsity 8+.
- The Varsity 4+ faces off against Rutgers, Northeastern, URI, UConn, Marist and Holy Cross in heat one.
- BU will compete against Rutgers, Northeastern, George Washington and UConn in heat one of the Second Varsity 4+.
- The Third Varsity 4+ will see two Rutgers boats as well as Dartmouth and Holy Cross in the first heat.
- When BU raced then No. 22 Dartmouth earlier this spring, BU's Varsity 4+, Second Varsity 4+ and Third Varsity 8+ noticeably finished ahead of the Big Green.

LAST YEAR AT THE EASTERN SPRINTS
- All five of BU's crews advanced to the grand finals in 2024.
- The Varsity 4+ had the highest finish, crossing the line in fourth in the grand final only behind Brown, Rutgers and Columbia.
- The Varsity 8+ and Third Varsity 8+ each came in fifth in their grand final races.
LOOKING AHEAD
- This will be BU's last races before the Patriot League Championship on May 16.
- The championship will take place on the Cooper River in Pennsauken, N.J.
