Terriers Post 72-64 Victory at Holy Cross

WORCESTER, Mass. – Competing on the road for the second time in three days, the Boston University men's basketball team posted a 72-64 victory at Holy Cross Monday night in front of a national audience on CBS Sports Network.
The Terriers (9-15, 4-7 PL) shot 54.3 percent from the field and held the Crusaders (8-16, 3-8 PL) to just 41.7 FG% to snap a three-game losing streak that included two overtime thrillers. BU doubled Holy Cross in free throws, 12-6, and finished ahead in made 3-pointers, 10-8, to help overcome an 11-2 disadvantage in points off turnovers.
Both junior Michael McNair (18 pts.) and sophomore Azmar Abdullah (14 pts.) flushed four 3-pointers apiece with Abdullah adding eight rebounds. Sophomore Ben Defty (17 pts.) nearly had a double-double as well with nine rebounds, and freshman Chance Gladden compiled 14 points shooting 5-for-6 at the charity stripe.
For the Crusaders, DeAndre Williams went 4-for-6 from behind the arc on his way to 20 points, and Tyler Boston totaled 15 points alongside four assists. Aiden Disu hauled in 14 rebounds but was limited to just six points shooting 3-for-8 from the field.
HOW IT HAPPENED

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After the Terriers jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead with the help of Abdullah's 3-pointer, the Crusaders responded with a 10-2 run capped by Chuck Hare's layup at 14:49.
- Freshman Donte Tisinger Jr. retook the lead on a layup a minute later, and BU kept Holy Cross at bay the rest of the half to enter the locker room ahead, 32-29.
- The Crusaders started off the second half with back-to-back layups for the first of 12 lead changes over the final 20 minutes of action.
- After McNair hit a free throw on the next possession, Boston gave Holy Cross its largest lead of the game on a jumper, 35-33, at 18:04.
- BU and HC went back-and-forth over the next 11 minutes with Disu giving the Crusaders their final lead on a jumper, 55-54.
- Abdullah came right back with back-to-back 3-pointers as part of a 12-3run ended by Defty's layup at 2:56.
- HC never cut the deficit below six points, missing its final four field goal attempts.
- With his four 3-pointers off seven attempts, McNair moved up to a tie-for-sixth in the BU season record book alongside John Holland ('11) at 76 3-pointers. Holland also sits at No. 4 with 80 treys during the 2008-09 campaign.
- With two assists, Gladden became the first Terrier to dish out 100+ assists since Miles Brewster ('25) totaled 110 in 2023-24.
- The Terriers shot at least 50.0 FG% from the field for the 13th time this season.
- The teams battled to a 32-32 draw in rebounds with HC outscoring BU off second-chance opportunities, 11-5.
- BU improved to 2-10 this season when being outscored in bench production, as the Crusaders finished with a 16-7 advantage in the category.
- BU snapped a three-game losing streak at the Hart Center with the help of its 11th double-digit made 3-pointers performance on the season.
- BU will return home to host Loyola Maryland on Saturday (Feb. 7) at 1 p.m.
- In the first meeting in Baltimore, Loyola won, 74-57.
- The Terriers owned a 36-34 halftime lead, but the Greyhounds shot 51.9 FG% in the second half and held BU to 26.9 FG% to pull away.
- BU has won its last four home games in the series, including a 68-66 decision in 2025.
