PRINCETON, N.J. – The No. 14 Boston University men's rowing program ignited its 2026 spring opener with four wins against Navy on Sunday morning at Lake Carnegie in New Jersey.
The Terriers sent out four crews on a brisk but otherwise sunny and calm morning. All four boats won their dual races by margins of 3.7 or greater seconds.
The largest win of the day began the festivities with the Fourth Varsity 8, coxed by Ben Brinckerhoff and stroked by Mason Laundry. BU cruised to the finish line in 5:55.74, nearly 16 seconds in front of the Midshipmen's 6:11.56.
BU's Third Varsity 8, coxed by Luke Stroh and stroked by Griffith Coupland, quickly followed suit with a winning time of 5:51.78. Navy clocked in at 5:55.57.
The Terrier Second Varsity 8, coxed by James Smith and stroked by Ambrose Hennessy, battled the Midshipmen and crossed the line first in 5:50.86 compared to Navy's 5:57.38.
Sunday concluded with the Varsity 8, coxed by Emily Slawin and stroked by Alessandro Gardino. Earning first in 5:36.50 for a margin of +6.58 seconds, the Terrier 1V earned its third consecutive dual race victory over Navy in the last six years.
