BOSTON – In search of its first Patriot League championship, the No. 8-seed Boston University women's basketball program opens the Patriot League Tournament with a first-round matchup against ninth-seeded American on Saturday (March 7). Opening tip from Case Gym is set for 2 p.m.

BU (10-19, 6-12 PL) won three of its five final regular season games to capture the No. 8-seed for the second consecutive season. The Terriers will host a postseason contest for the eighth straight year.

American (7-22, 5-13 PL) snapped a seven-game losing streak with a road victory at Lehigh on March 4. The Eagles are 5-10 all-time in Boston against the Terriers.

The winner of Saturday's matchup will face regular season champion Navy on Monday (March 9) at 7 p.m. in the quarterfinal round.

TERRIER TIDBITS

BU closed the regular season with a 64-58 loss to Holy Cross on March 4 at Case Gym.
The Terriers turned a 14-point, first-half deficit into a 12-point lead in the first moments of the fourth quarter, but the Crusaders outscored BU 25-10 in the final frame.
Junior Bella McLaughlin finished with 17 points, five assists and three rebounds.
Classmate Ines Monteagudo Pardo and senior Anete Adler collected 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Adler was the lone Terrier to garner All-Patriot League recognition, earning a spot on the second team and All-Defensive Team on Friday (March 6).
She is the sixth Terrier to be named to the All-Patriot League Second Team and fifth to capture All-Defensive honors.
The Terriers are 41-35 all-time in conference tournaments.
Since joining the Patriot League for the 2013-14 season, BU is 10-11 in the postseason tournament and 2-3 in the first round. The Terriers have won a Patriot League Tournament game in six consecutive seasons.
Under head coach Melissa Graves, The Terriers are 5-1 at home in the Patriot League Tournament.
Monteagudo ranks 12th in Division I with a Patriot League-leading .435 three-point percentage. Adler's 1.72 blocks per game are 34th.

SCOUTING AMERICAN

Following its overtime loss to BU, the Eagles defeated Lehigh in Bethlehem, 62-60.
American is playing in the first round for the fourth consecutive of the season. They were the No. 9-seed back in the 2023-24 campaign.
Freshman Charlotte Tuhy earned third team All-Patriot League and All-Rookie honors after averaging 11.6 points and 11.2 rebounds per game in her rookie year.
Molly Driscoll leads American in scoring with 12 points per contest. Madisyn Moore-Nicholson scores 10.3 points per game.

SERIES HISTORY

Saturday marks the 33rd all-time meeting between BU and American.
The Eagles sport an 18-14 advantage in the rivalry.
The Terriers are 2-3 in the Patriot League Tournament, having last met in the 2022 semifinals. BU last defeated the Eagles in the 2021 semifinals.
American won a 61-53 matchup over BU as the No. 7-seed in the 2016 first round, the lone time both squads met in the opening round.
Each team won their home contest during the regular season. American won 53-45 back on Jan. 3 before the Terriers took a 79-76 overtime win in Boston on Feb. 28.
Adler averaged 22.5 points, eight rebounds, four assists and four blocks in the two meetings.
