Lightweight Rowing Travels to the Knecht Cup This Weekend

BOSTON – The Boston University lightweight rowing program makes its annual pilgrimage to the Cooper River for the Knecht Cup from April 11-12 in Cherry Hill, N.J.
BU will send out 10 total crews over the two-day regatta, which begins on Saturday (April 11) at 8:12 a.m. with the Women's Double. The Terriers will launch four doubles, two Lightweight 4s, one Varsity 4, one Lightweight 8, one Second Varsity 8 and a Varsity 8.
The Knecht Cup Regatta will stream both days live on its YouTube channel. Live results are also available on rowtown.org.

- 10:12 a.m. – Varsity 4+ Finals
- 12:01 p.m. – Lightweight 8+ Final
- 12:29 p.m. – Second Varsity 8+ Finals
- 2:03 p.m. – Varsity 8+ Finals
- BU grabbed two victories in a dual race with MIT's openweight program last Saturday (April 4).
- The Varsity 8 crossed the finish line on the Charles River by a few seats in 6:30.990 while both Varsity 4 boats were first and second in their pieces.
- The Second Varsity 8 came down to a photo finish, where the Engineers came out in front by .619 seconds.
- In the latest Pocock CRCA Poll, released on April 7, BU's Lightweight Double remained first in the nation.
- BU's Lightweight 4 was tied for third with Wisconsin and just four points behind Harvard-Radcliffe.
- The Lightweight 8 was fifth.
- BU captured the Danielle Kousoulis Memorial Trophy in the Lightweight 8+ for the third consecutive year and Ann Harris Smith Memorial Trophy in the Varsity 8+ for the first time in program history in 2025.
- The Terriers' top crews in the Lightweight 4+ and Varsity 4+ each boasted top-five results in their respective finals.
- Two of the Terriers' three Doubles made the top final, with the "A" crew placing third.
- BU returns to the Charles River for the 2026 installment of the Beanpot against Harvard-Radcliffe and MIT on Saturday (April 18).
