Lightweight Rowing Takes On Eastern Sprints This Sunday

BOSTON – For its final tune-up before the 2026 IRA National Championship Regatta, the Boston University lightweight rowing program gears up for the 2026 Eastern Sprints on Sunday (May 3) on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass.

BU will send out five crews for the regatta, competing in its first race at 9:20 a.m. and the first finals set for 1:10 p.m. Fans can watch all the day's events on Overnght.com with a subscription while live results will be available on the Quinsigamond River Association's website.

- 9:20 a.m. – Lightweight 8 (Heat 1)
- Lane 1 vs. Stanford, Wisconsin "A", Princeton, Wisconsin "B"
- 1:10 p.m. – Lightweight "B" Double
- Lane 5 vs. Wisconsin, Harvard-Radcliffe, MIT, Georgetown
- 1:20 p.m. – Lightweight 4 "B"
- Lane 1 vs. Wisconsin, MIT, Princeton, Harvard-Radcliffe
- 1:32 p.m. – Lightweight Double
- Lane 0 vs. Wisconsin, MIT, Georgetown, Sacred Heart, Harvard-Radcliffe, Princeton
- 1:44 p.m. – Lightweight 4
- Lane 0 vs. Wisconsin, MIT, Georgetown, Sacred Heard, Princeton, Harvard-Radcliffe
- 1:56 p.m. – Lightweight 8 Petite Final

- The Terriers sent boats out to the west coast for a dual race at Stanford and to Worcester to compete with the BU openweight crews against Rhode Island, Holy Cross and Delaware.
- Against the Cardinal, BU triumphed in the Lightweight Double and Lightweight 4.
- The "A" crew came in second place among a six-boat field in the Second Varsity 4 on Lake Quinsigamond.
- The latest installment of the Pocock CRCA Coaches Poll kept BU's Double atop the eight-school field and the Lightweight 8 in third place.
- The Lightweight 4 moved into sole possession of fourth place over MIT.
- The Lightweight "B" Double features crews from BU, Georgetown, MIT, Harvard-Radcliffe and Wisconsin.
- The "A" category for both the Double and Lightweight 4 features the Terriers, Georgetown, MIT, Princeton, Radcliffe, Sacred Heart and Wisconsin.
- BU, MIT, Princeton, Radcliffe and Wisconsin comprise the "B" entries for the Lightweight 4.
- The Terriers, Georgetown, MIT, Princeton, Radcliffe, Sacred Heart, Stanford and two Wisconsin crews will compete in the Lightweight 8 event.
- In the 2025 Eastern Sprints, the Terriers finished second only to Princeton in the team standings after winning the 2024 Konrad Ulbrich Team Trophy.
- BU won gold medals in both Lightweight Double events and the Lightweight 4 "B" category.
- The Terriers were third in both the Lightweight 4 and 8 events.
- The 2026 IRA National Championship Regatta takes place from May 30-31 at Lake Natoma in Gold River, Calif.
