Terriers Open Season at Friar Invitational

ATTLEBORO, Mass. - The Boston University men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2026 season at the Friar Invitational on Friday afternoon at the Mark Coogan Course at Highland Park.
On the women's side, junior Luna Scorzelli led the Terriers with an 18th-place finish, completing the 4K course in 14:48.0. BU finished sixth as a team, totaling 159 points.
Freshman Cali Buxbaum had a strong collegiate debut, finishing 22nd with a time of 14:53.5. Classmate Jessica Abbott also had a solid first race as a Terrier, placing 35th (15:07.4). Graduate student Olivia Duca (15:24.1) and senior Kelly Jones (15:33.3) were 42nd and 46th, respectively, to round out the Terrier scorers. Graduate student Olivia Dodds was 49th (15:34.7) and senior Abi Hahn was 62nd (15:50.1).
For the men, junior Isaac Mahler led the Terriers with an 25th-place finish, completing the 6K course in 18:46.2. BU finished eighth as a team, totaling 184 points.
Junior Brandon Piedade followed Mahler in 35th place with a time of 18:55.5. Sophomore Will Tempest took 46th (19:13.6), with junior Jacob Sushinsky (19:16.4) and freshman Ryan Collins (19:20.1) finishing 51st and 52nd, respectively, to round out the Terrier scorers. Freshman Ramsey Hansen (19:21.9), sophomores Greg Poisson (19:31.5), Justin Ruiz (19:49.0) and Michael Repper-Molina (19:53.6), freshman Theodore Butty (20:16.6), freshman Kennan Byers (20:18.0) and sophomore Jack Ouellette (20:36.3) also raced for the Terriers.
The Terriers will return to competition on Saturday, Sept, 19, at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational.
