Peter McLachlan
Sport: Ice Hockey
Year Graduated: 1957
Year Inducted: 2001

There were other defensemen who drew the headlines and attention during the mid-sixties. Most notably, Richie Green was an All-American in 1964, followed by Tom Ross in 1965 and 1966, and then Brian Gilmour in 1967.

While he might not have made the All-America team, Peter McLachlan didn't have to take a back seat to anyone during his three-year varsity career playing along the blue line for Coach Jack Kelley.

Peter made his presence felt from the outset as he was the top-scoring defenseman and captain of the first undefeated freshman hockey team in school history. That 1963-64 pup team finished 15-0-1, and McLachlan finished with 4 goals and 23 assists.

The following year, Peter and his classmates moved up to the varsity and helped form the nucleus of a group that turned the 9-13-2 record of the 1963-64 varsity into the 25-6-0 record of the 1964-65 team. At season's end, Peter was named Second Team All-East and Second Team All-New England.

The Terriers continued to enjoy success during the 1965-66 and 1966-67 seasons as they had a combined record of 52-13-1. They advanced to the NCAA's each year and finished second in 1967, and they won two Beanpots.

Peter shared in the success as he was named First Team All-East and All-New England each year. In addition, his senior year, he was team co-captain along with Jim Quinn. Voted into Scarlet Key, Peter, who finished his career with 97 points, was named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team in 1966, was listed in Who's Who in American Colleges, and was inducted into the School of Management Hall of Fame for academic and student leadership.

What's more, when he wasn't playing hockey, you might have found him on the golf course as he lettered for the Terrier golf teams his junior and senior years. The team won the Greater Boston team title and represented the area at the New England's.
