Steve Wright, the first Boston University basketball player ever to have his number retired, was a three-time MVP for the Terriers and is the University's third all-time leading scorer.

Buoyed by a 52% field goal percentage, Steve tallied 1641 points over a career that concluded in 1980. His 617 baskets rank second on the Terriers' all-time list, while he is third in field goal percentage and free throws made (407). He also ranks 10th among rebounders with 685.

He led the Terriers in scoring and rebounding his junior and senior seasons. In leading the team to a 17-9 mark as a junior, Steve averaged 20.8 points and 7.1 rebounds. The following year, when he served as a tri-captain, Steve posted statistics of 19.8 ppg and 6.0 rebounds as the Terriers finished 21-9 and earned their first-ever bid to the National Invitational Tournament.

A member of the 1979 U.S. National team, Steve owns Boston University's second-highest single game outburst when he erupted for 42 points against Connecticut his junior year. After graduation, he became an eighth round selection of the Boston Celtics.
