Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about the Terrier Rewards Program
(1) What is Terrier Rewards?
Terrier Rewards is a program that the Boston University Department of Athletics launched in 2008-09 to reward its most loyal student supporters. Students earn points for attending specified varsity home games (Terrier Rewards events) and will receive prizes from our partners based on their point totals.
(2) Who can participate in Terrier Rewards?
Terrier Rewards is free to all current Boston University undergraduate and graduate students.
(3) How do BU students participate?
Students swipe their BU ID at a designated location at each athletic venue to get points for attending a specified sporting event. Students do not have to swipe their BU ID for Terrier Rewards events at Agganis Arena because points are awarded automatically through the ticketing system. Point standings will be tracked by BU Athletics and will be posted on the Terrier Rewards page on the official BU Athletics website, GoTerriers.com/rewards.
(4) At what games can I scan my BU ID?
Games for the following teams will be a Terrier Rewards event at every regular season home game:
Men's Basketball
Women's Basketball
Men's Ice Hockey
Women's Ice Hockey
Women's Lacrosse
Men's Soccer
Women's Soccer
*Other BU varsity teams' home games may be selected at a later date, and announced on the Terrier Rewards page on the official BU Athletics website, www.GoTerriers.com/rewards .
(5) How many points do I get for attending a game?
Terrier Rewards events for Men's and Women's Basketball, Women's Ice Hockey, Women's Lacrosse, and Men's and Women's Soccer will be worth fifteen (15) points, Men's Ice Hockey games, which will be worth five (5) points.
At featured games or additional Terrier Rewards events, as denoted by the Department of Athletics, students will earn bonus points, with those point totals to be announced at GoTerrier.com/rewards.
(6) How do I swipe my card at a game?
The Terrier Rewards Staff will swipe your BU ID from the time when the doors open to that facility until five (5) minutes have elapsed on the game clock for that game.
Terrier Reward Staff will be easily identifiable with signage just inside the ticketing entrance to each venue and will have scanners for students to swipe their BU IDs. Swiping is unnecessary for events at Agganis Arena, where the ticketing system will automatically tally points once students receive a ticket from the Agganis Arena ticket office.(7) How do I become eligible for prizes?
Students become eligible for prizes by accumulating points. The point levels are 60, 120, and 180. As students reach each rewards level, they will be eligible to win better prizes. Every two weeks prize eligible students will be selected at random and prizes from our sponsors will be awarded to the winning students.
Prizes will include rewards from local businesses such as:

- Are chosen as the Student fan of the month (described in question 10)
- Qualified for semester and year-long prizes (described in question 11)
- Attend 75 percent or more of a designated team's regular season home games
If students attend at least 75 percent of the regular season home games for the sports listed below, they will be eligible to receive free postseason tickets to any home America East championship or home NCAA tournament games for that particular team:
Men's Soccer (6 of 8 regular season home games)
Women's Soccer (8 of 10 regular season home games)
Women's Ice Hockey (12 of 15 regular season home games)
Women's Lacrosse (TBA)
(8) How do I receive my prizes?
The winning students from our monthly drawings will receive an email from the Department of Athletics. Unless otherwise noted, the prize will be available for pick-up at the Athletic Marketing table for the next Terrier Rewards event.
(9) How do I check my point total?
Students' point totals will be updated monthly via e-mail to their student e-mail account, and the next point benchmark they can reach will be explained in that e-mail.
(10) How can I become the Fan of the Month?
At the end of every month, each student will have the same number of entries into the Fan of the Month drawing as the number of Terrier Rewards events at which they scanned into that month.
Students increase their chances of winning Terrier Rewards by attending 50 percent or more of Terrier Rewards events within a month, in which case their number of entries will double. The student who is chosen at random as the Fan of the Month will be notified via e-mail. Each winner will be recognized at a home sporting event. The fan of the month will be awarded between the months of September through April, with December and January combined into one month's drawing.(11) What is the End of the Semester and End of the Year Recognition?
At the end of the fall semester, the top 20 point scorers will be recognized by the Department of Athletics at a to-be-determined event.
At the end of the academic year, the top 40 point scorers will be recognized by the Department of Athletics at a to-be-determined event.(12) Who do I contact if I have more questions or to find out about updates?
