Greg Lambert enters his fifth season as men's and women's track & field's assistant coach in 2019-20 Greg focuses on sprints, hurdles and relays.
In 2017-18, Lambert’s third with BU, he coached the Terriers to five Patriot League titles (men: 100m, women: 100H, 60H, 400I, & 500I), two new school records (men’s 300m, women’s 4x200) and one Penn Relays Championship of America Qualifier (men’s 4x200).
Over his three years at BU, Lambert helped guide the Terriers to 26 Patriot League gold medals, coached three All-Americans, 13 NCAA East sectional qualifiers, two Team USA Championship qualifiers, a USA Junior qualifier and one Olympian. Since his arrival, the Terriers have broken 10 school records and have had six Championship America Qualifiers at the Penn Relays
During the 2017-18 outdoor senior, Lambert helped Tehya Noell qualify for the NCAA regionals in the 100m hurdles by finishing first at the Patriot League Outdoor Championships with a personal-best time of 13.43 seconds.
In addition, sprinter Justin Flynn broke the Boston University 100m dash record while competing at the Patriot League Championships. Flynn won gold with an incredible time of 10.45. The time broke the BU school record of 10.48 set by both Cam Williams (2015) and Johann Jack (1998).
During the 2016-17 season, Lambert helped guide Toria Levy to the semifinal round of the 400 meter hurdles at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore. where she finished ninth with a time of 57.45 and received second-team All-American honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Levy won the Patriot League outdoor champion in the 400m hurdles, one of three gold medals she won at the 2017 Patriot League Outdoor Track & Field Championships on her way to being named 2017 Patriot League Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year.
Lambert's first two seasons were highlighted by back-to-back All-American performance from Cameron Williams. Lambert helped guide Williams to Second Team All-America status in the 200m dash during the 2016 and 2017 indoor seasons, and Williams also set two individual school records. Lambert also coached the 4x100m relay team to a new school record. In total, Terrier sprinters won 17 events at the Patriot League Championships in 2015-16.
Lambert comes to BU from Ole Miss, where he was an assistant coach during the 2014-15 season. He worked primarily with sprinters and hurdlers, coaching 10 All-Americans and a school-record 14 qualifiers for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. An additional 14 athletes competed at the NCAA East prelims during the outdoor campaign, and four athletes qualified for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Before his successful season at Ole Miss, Lambert spent two seasons (2012-14) at Georgetown, where he helped develop sprinters, jumpers and hurdlers. Lambert coached three All-Americans and 11 Big East champions while with the Hoyas. Three school records fell and nine athletes qualified for the East prelims during Lambert’s tenure at Georgetown.
Lambert does have previous experience in the Patriot League, as he coached three school-record holders at American during the 2008-09 campaign. He has also made stops at Richmond (2010-12), Coppin State (2006-07, 2009-10) and Delaware State (2007-08).
In total, Lambert has guided 15 All-Americans and helped his athletes break over 25 school records in his coaching career.
A certified USA Track and Field Coach Level 1, Lambert completed his undergraduate degree in sports marketing at Coppin State in 2006. He then earned a master’s degree in sport management from Delaware State in 2009.
