Abby Ostrom

Abby Ostrom, who spent the past three seasons as the director of operations for the Boston University women’s ice hockey team, was elevated to the role of assistant coach ahead of the 2022-23 season.

Since joining the program in September 2019, Ostrom was responsible for all aspects of team video in addition to helping with the day-to-day operations of the program. This will not be her first stint as an assistant coach in college hockey, as she served in that role for four seasons at her alma mater, Trinity College.

A 2014 graduate of Trinity with a bachelor's degree in American studies and a master's in public policy & law, Ostrom was a two-sport star on the ice and on the softball diamond. Ostrom was the director of men's ice hockey operations and an assistant softball coach at Skidmore College during the 2014-15 campaign. She was a coaching intern with the USA Hockey National Development Camp in Minnesota for the U-15 and U-18 squads in the summers of 2015 and 2016, before working as a skills coach for the U-18 group at the camp in 2017. Ostrom graduated from the WeCoach NCAA Women's Coaches academy in the summer of 2019 as a part of the 47th class.

A native of Carlisle, Massachusetts, Ostrom totaled 21 goals and 17 assists in 80 games and is tied for second in the Trinity record book for game-winning goals in a single season. She helped the Bantams qualify for the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Women's Ice Hockey Championship Tournament each winter. Ostrom was also an All-New England and a three-time All-NESCAC softball player for the Bantams, and captain of that squad in her senior spring.
