Named Patriot League Player of the Week for the fourth time in her career on March 3, sophomore Shelly Yaloz finished the season collecting impressive singles wins against Dartmouth's 2019 All-Ivy League First Team honoree Racquel Lyn and Florida International's Sandra Bozinovic in the No. 2 slot. A native of Queens, New York, she also posted wins in straight sets against All-Ivy League members from Cornell (Valerie Ho) and Penn (Marija Curnic).
The 2019 PL Rookie of the Year award recipient was having another strong year in doubles as well. She repeated as the A Flight champion at the Quinnipiac Invitational, teaming with junior Lily Burchell for wins against UConn, Army (2x) and Providence. Named the 2019 PL Doubles Team of the Year, Yaloz and junior Emily Kim returned to the quarterfinals at the ITA Northeast Regionals behind victories over Brown, Columbia and UConn. The duo also had wins at line 1 against Dartmouth, Brown and Cornell.
"Shelly was coming on strong when our season ended," said head coach Lesley Sheehan. "She was playing with confidence and picked up big wins against Dartmouth and Florida International. She is a fiery competitor, no matter if it's singles or doubles, and is improving every day. She also impacts the team with the energy she brings to the court."
