BURLINGTON, VT -- Senior James Kevins (Mt. Sinai, NY) took first place in the 100-meter backstroke (56.06), 200-meter backstroke (2:02.37), the 200 IM (2:05.36) and was part of the winning 200 medley relay team (1:40.90), leading the Terriers to an impressive 202-62 win at Vermont on Saturday (Jan. 22). The win put the Terriers (3-2) back over the .500 mark for the season. The 202 points scored by BU was the most since a 205-79 win over Maine on December 6, 1997.
In the 200 IM, Kevins, junior Jason Walkow (Erie, PA) and sophomore Mark Halko (Corvallis, OR) finished first through third, respectively to take 16 of a possible 19 points in the event. The Terriers repeated that feat in the 50-meter freestyle, as senior Richard Cormier (Manchester, CT) (22.93), freshman Eric Boarni (Wadsworth, IL) (23.02) and Aaron LeValley (Elma, NY) (23.19) all placed within four-tenths of a second of each other.
In the 500-meter freestyle, sophomore David Rozato (Madrid, Spain) took the top spot with a time of 4:55.86, nearly four seconds ahead of the second place finisher, teammate Jeff Graves (Rockwell, TX). Rozato also placed first in the 200 fly with a time of 2:05.31. In all, Terrier swimmers took first in 13 of 16 events on the day.
BU will next travel to The Heights to face rival Boston College on Wednesday, January 26. In a close contest, the Terriers took last year's meeting at home, 153-146.
