Mahana Reaches First PL Podium; 200 Free Relay Breaks School Record

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Highlighted by the program's first Patriot League men's diving medal in 10 years and a school record in the 200-yard medley relay, the Boston University men's swimming & diving team held steady in fourth place on day three of the PL Championships at Lejeune Hall on Friday.
Junior Zein Mahana earned bronze in the men's 3-meter dive, posting a score of 332.75 to become the first Terrier diver since David Thiede in 2016 to reach the Patriot League podium. Freshman Ethan Wong closed out an impressive PL debut, placing sixth in the event (312.60).
The night ended with a school record as the 200 free relay of junior Henry Dvorak, senior Ben Cho, freshman Jinu Hong and freshman Hugh Harrison posted a time of 1:19.79 to place fourth.
Sophomore Charlie Nenchev made a pair of championship finals on the day, placing sixth in the 100 backstroke (48.03) and seventh in the 200 freestyle (1:37.31).
Senior Tony Ponomarev took eighth in the 100 backstroke in a time of 48.44 while freshman Ethan Zhou (400 IM) and Dvorak (100 fly) each earned an eighth-place finish.
The Terriers will enter the final day of competition in fourth place with 681 points. Loyola Maryland sits in third with 720 points while Bucknell is behind BU in fifth with 590 points.
