
800 Free Relay Breaks School Record, Reaches Patriot League Podium

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Boston University men's swimming & diving team got off to a strong start at the 2026 Patriot League Championships, closing the night with the program's first relay podium finish in seven years on Friday at Lejeune Hall.
The 800-yard freestyle relay of sophomore Giovanni Sullo, freshman Nathan Lee, junior Jonny Farber and sophomore Charlie Nenchev broke the school record by 1.58 seconds, claiming bronze with a time of 6:30.38.
In the men's 3-meter dive, all three Terriers in the field finished in the top 10 during the prelim round. Junior Zein Mahana advanced to the finals and placed sixth with a score of 305.20. Freshman Ethan Wong won the B final, posting a score of 290.60 while classmate Zach Lee finished 16th (247.35).
The first relay of the meet was the 200-yard medley relay and the quartet of senior Tony Ponomarev, junior Ethan Huynh, junior Henry Dvorak and senior Ben Cho placed fifth in a time of 1:28.90.
Thanks to its strong showing on opening night, the Terriers will enter Thursday in third place among the 10 teams.
