Senior Jason Ellow (Bath, PA) led a rare 1-2-3 sweep in the 100-meter freestyle, and senior Greg Voloshin (Warwick, NY) won the dive to highlight the performances of the Terrier men's swimming and diving team at the annual College Swimming Coaches Athletic Association Forum Classic.
The Terriers competed in the meet on Thursday, January 11th at the Swimming Hall of Fame pool in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
It marked B.U.'s first competition since a 128-106 win over Central Connecticut on December 9th.
Ellow was timed in :57.50. Freshman Jay Toutant (Madison, WI) finished second in :58.28, while freshman Ryo Takano (Ardsley, NY) was third in :58.54.
In all, 20 teams competed in the event.
"It is rare to sweep an event when there are that many teams entered, and I was very proud of our three swimmers," said the coach. "In fact, a number of coaches came up to me after the event and congratulated me our accomplishment.
"I was also very pleased with how Greg performed in the dive," said the coach.
The Terriers, who finished the first semester with a 3-1 record, return to dual meet competition on Saturday (Jan. 20) at home against the University of Vermont. The meet will start at 1:00 p.m.
