Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Defeat Maine

BOSTON - The B. U. men's swimming and diving team won 14 of 16 races, and the women's team took 11 of 16 races, in the process defeating Maine on Saturday afternoon at B. U.'s Faneuil Pool. The men won, 195-102, while the women won 166.5 to 133.5.
MEN'S RECAP The B. U. men finished in first and second place in the 200 medley relay, as the team of Jay Toutant, Pablo Morales, Jeff Graves, and Chris Collins finished the relay in 1:41:29.
B. U.'s Doug Mark won the 1,000 free in a time of 10:22:75. Mark, a junior, also won the 500 free in a time of 4:57:16.
Chris Collins finished first in three events. In addition to contributing to the Terriers' 200 medley relay win, the freshman won the50 free in 22.70, 200 backstroke in 2:01:66, and the 200 individual medley in 2:04:60.
Also having strong days for the men was senior Jeff Graves with first-place finishes in the 200 medley relay, 200 fly (1:59:74), and 100 fly (52:92). Also with wins for the Terriers was senior David Rosado, who finished first in the 200 free (1:49:22); sophomore Jay Toutant, who was part of the 200 medley relay win, and who also won the 100 backstroke (57:81); and sophomore Ryo Takano, who won the 100 free (47:45).
Freshman diver Victor Paguia was first in the one-meter diving event with a score of 268.5, and the three-meter diving event with a score of 282.0.
WOMEN'S RECAP For the women, junior Karissa Lopez swam to three victories. She won the 200 fly (2:15:07), the 100 fly (58:33), and the 200 individual medley (2:11:71). Junior Ingrid Salazar won two races - the 1,000 free (10:41:67) and the 500 free (5:11:10).
Also winning two races were sophomore Laurie Green - who had victories in the 100 breast stroke (1:07:23), and the 200 breast stroke (2:25:14), and sophomore Stacey Gallacher, who won the one-meter diving event with a score of 259:2, and the three-meter diving event with a score of 270.6.
