Collins, Dhondt, Michalek Tabbed as Men's Basketball Captains
April 30, 2001 | Men's Basketball
In his first full season playing at B. U., Dhondt started all 28 of the Terriers' games, registering 7.8 points per game and 4.3 rebounds per game in 25.7 minutes of action per game.
Michalek played in 15 games in his junior year, averaging .5 points and .7 rebounds per contest. He was the recipient of this year's Reggie Stewart Award, given by the coaching staff to the player who best exemplifies Boston University basketball.
Collins comes into his junior year after missing much of the 2000-01 campaign suffering from a stress fracture in his left foot. In 12 games before the injury, Collins scored 7.6 points per game and pulled down 4.8 rebounds per game, good for second on the team.
Boston University returns every key player from a team that finished 14-14, including America East All-Rookie Team member and Terrier MVP Jason Grochowalski. B. U. looks to move to the top of a new-look America East Conference in 2001, as Albany, Binghamton and Stony Brook enter the league in the fall.
