2001-02 Schedule Will Challenge the Men's Basketball Terriers

A local rivalry is renewed as Boston College appears on the B. U. schedule for the first time in 21 seasons. The Terriers travel down Commonwealth Avenue to face the 2001 BIG EAST Conference champions at Conte Forum on Sunday, Nov. 18. The Terriers tip off against another BIG EAST foe and NCAA Tournament qualifier when they play at Providence on Saturday, Dec. 22 at the Providence Civic Center. Holy Cross, the champions of the Patriot League last season, will host the Terriers on Saturday, Dec. 1 in Worcester.
If the Terriers advance to the second round of the 2001 Guardians Classic, they could face Iowa for a chance at advancing to the semifinals on November 20th in Kansas City, Mo. The Hawkeyes made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament last year. The Terriers will have to dispatch of New Orleans first. The Privateers and Terriers meet in the first round on Tuesday, Nov. 13 at Iowa's Carver Hawkeye Arena.
A trip to Washington D. C. for a Wednesday, Nov. 28 date with George Washington also appears on the schedule. St. Peter's comes into Case Gym on Sunday, Nov. 25. The Terriers will also compete in the Oneida Bingo and Casino Classic in Green Bay, Wisc. on Friday, Dec. 28 and Saturday, Dec. 29. The opponent matchups have yet to be announced for the Christmas tournament.
Three Ivy League opponents round out the Terriers' non-conference slate. B. U. hosts Harvard on Tuesday, Dec. 4, and Dartmouth on Wednesday, Dec. 12. B. U. plays Columbia in New York City on Saturday, Dec. 8.
B. U.'s conference slate will feature three teams that are new to the conference. Albany, Binghamton, and Stony Brook will face an America East schedule for the first time this season.
The Terriers travel to Albany, N. Y., to face the Great Danes on Thursday, Jan. 24, and host them on Saturday, Feb. 16.
The "battle of BU" kicks off on Thursday, Jan. 10 as the Terriers host Binghamton, then meet the Bearcats on the road on Saturday, Jan. 26.
Stony Brook will be in Boston on Saturday, Jan. 12, then hosts the Terriers on Thursday, Feb 21.
