Andrea Saathoff Named Women's Crew Novice Coach

BOSTON - The Boston University women's crew program named Andrea Saathoff its Novice Coach for the 2001-02 rowing season.
Saathoff attended University of Virginia as a rowing scholarship recipient. She graduated in 1999 with a BA in Psychology and a minor in Anthropology. Saathoff is from Indiatlantic, Florida and attended Melbourne High School where she learned to row in the 10th grade.
At the University of Virginia, Saathoff rowed all four years in the varsity eight. In her senior year, Saathoff's crew won a silver medal at the NCAA Championship, contributing to UVA earning a number two team national ranking. In that same year, Saathoff was elected team captain, Most Valuable Rower, was named an All-American, and earned the Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Achievement Award.
Saathoff rowed on three United States Senior 'B' Teams between 1997-1999, earning a bronze medal at the Nations Cup Regatta in 1999. She also gained a berth on the training squad for the 2000 U. S. Olympic Team at the ARCO Training Center in San Diego, Calif.
In her first year of coaching at B. U., Andrea will take on the role of Novice Coach, with her primarily job being the recruitment, teaching and coaching of the walk-ons.
