BOSTON - Following the first week of the 2003 season, sophomore midfielder Alyssa Trudel (Shoreham, VT) and sophomore goalkeeper Anne Sheridan (Baltimore, MD) received America East weekly honors.
Trudel scored seven goals and had four assists in two games to earn America East Player of the Week honors. Sheridan totaled 12 saves as the Terriers went 1-1 in the opening week of action and was named America East Defender of the Week.
In the season-opening 17-1 win over Quinnipiac on March 5, Trudel scored five goals and tallied three assists to tie a career-high for points in a game. Last season, Trudel had two goals and six assists against Albany on April 12.
Trudel scored two goals and added an assist in the Terriers' 17-11 loss to 10th-ranked North Carolina on March 9.
In addition to her 11 points in the Terriers' first two games, Trudel also caused four turnovers and recorded two ground balls.
Trudel leads the America East in scoring (5.50 ppg) and is tied for first in the league in goals (3.50 gpg) and assists (2.00 apg).
The weekly honor is the fourth in Trudel's career. The 2002 All-Rookie Team and All-Conference Second Team selection was named America East Rookie of the Week three times last season.
Sheridan was named Defender of the Week after recording her first career victory last week. Sheridan played the entire first half against Quinnipiac, making two stops while not allowing a goal. Against the 10th-ranked Tar Heels, Sheridan made a career-high 10 saves while allowing 17 goals in 60 minutes of action.
For Sheridan, the Defender of the Week honor is the first-ever weekly award.
