WORCESTER, Mass.- The Boston University men's tennis team won its second straight match, defeating Holy Cross, 5-2, on Tuesday March 25.
The Terriers (3-6), jumped out to an early 1-0 lead by winning all three doubles matches. At No.1 doubles, juniors Geoff Wagner (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) and Adam Siegel (Sudbury, Mass.) defeated the team of Gerry Benedicto and Justin Blair, 8-3.
The senior tandem of Jason Vinoles (Port Washington, N. Y.) and J. P. Debbink (Oconomowoc, Wisc.) defeated Nick Casalaro and Mike Marano, 8-6. The pairing of senior Noel Moossa (Rancho Sante Fe, Calif.) and sophomore Nick Ganias (Worcester, MA) won over Dave Phepp and Mike McCary, 8-5.
B. U. took four out of the six singles matches for the victory.
At first singles, Wagner disposed of Phepp 6-1, 6-3, while at the second position Siegel defeated Benedicto, 6-3, 6-0.
Debbink won a tough two-set match against his opponent at the fourth position, 6-4, 7-6, while at the fifth position Vinoles defeated Morano, 6-3, 6-2.
The two losses in singles came from Moossa at the third position, 6-4, 7-5, and senior Julian Delacruz (New York, N. Y.) playing at the sixth position in a hard-fought three-set match, 6-0, 1-6, 6-4.
The Terriers ride their two-match win streak into their match at Binghamton on Saturday, March 29 at 1 p.m. B. U. then hosts rival Boston College at the B. U. Track and Tennis Center in a 10 a.m. match.
