Peter MacArthur, who scored a goal and added an assist in the Terriers' 3-2 win over Providence College on Friday, Oct. 22, has been named the Superskills Hockey Rookie of the Week by Hockey East.
It was the Terriers' league opener as well as their second straight victory of the season. The week before, on Oct. 16, B.U. skated to a 4-1 win over the University of Vermont. Overall, for the season, the Terriers are 2-2 to go along with their 1-0 record in league play.
With the Terriers already leading by a 1-0 score on a first-period goal by Brad Zancanaro (Trenton, MI), MacArthur (Clifton Park, NY) scored on the Terrier power play at the 6:15 mark of the second period. The goal gave B.U. a 2-0 lead entering the final period.
Then, in the third period, MacArthur was credited with an assist on what proved to be the Terriers' game-winning goal. It came off the stick of Jekabs Redlihs (Riga, Latvia) at the 4:07 mark.
The Friars rallied with a pair of third-period goals, but it was not enough as the Terriers skated off with the win.
MacArthur's goal and assist brought his season total to a team-leading three goals. In addition, with his two assists for the year, he leads the team in points with five.
This is the second time this season he has been honored by the league. In the first week, he was named to the league Honor Roll after assisting on the Terriers' only goal in the 5-1 loss to Miami in the season opener and then scoring both goals in their 7-2 loss to Michigan.
