BOSTON, MA-Sophomore Griffin Moodie, who was one of the key performers in the Terriers' thrilling come-from-behind win at the University of Maine last Saturday, Dec. 11, has been named the America East Men's Swimmer of the Week.
In the Terriers' 165-132 victory over the host Black Bears, Moodie (Edina, MN) won three individual events, as he led a Terrier 1-2-3 sweep in both the 100 breaststroke and the 100 fly, while he won the 200 individual medley.
With the Terriers trailing by a 52-18 margin after four events, Moodie began the comeback when he won the 100 breaststroke in 1:01.59. Freshman Adam Motowidlo (Bristol, CT) was second (1:05.09) and junior Ryan Falk (Sarasota, FL) was third (1:05.71).
Then, in the 100 fly, Moodie again led the 1-2-3 sweep as he turned in a winning time of :53.81. Sophomore James Lands (Montclair, NJ) was second (:57.15), and Gordon Allan was third (1:01.09).
Moodie then captured his third event when he won the 200 IM in 2:03.36.
This is the second time this year that a Terrier has been honored with the weekly award from America East. Earlier. Terrier senior Victor Paguia, who won both the one- and three-meter dives in the Terriers' meet against the University of Massachusetts on Saturday, Nov. 13, was named the America East Diver of the Week.
"This is a well-deserved honor for Griffin," said Terrier head coach Reagh Wetmore. "He did an outstanding job against Maine in helping to bring us back for the win."
