Dieckfoss Set For NCAA Championship Steeplechase

AUSTIN, Texas - Senior Jochen Dieckfoss will make his third and final appearance at the NCAA Division I Men's Track and Field Championship starting on Thursday, June 10, when he competes in the 3000-meter steeplechase championship preliminary.
The championships will be held June 10-12, at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas. The University of Texas at Austin will serve as the host school.
The preliminary of the men's 3000-meter steeplechase is set for 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 10, with the final scheduled for Saturday, June 12, at 7:25 p.m.
Of the 26 student-athletes set to compete, Dieckfoss has the fourth-fastest qualifying time at 8:42:14.
It marks the third time in his career that Dieckfoss will compete at the NCAA Championship.
In 2003, Dieckfoss ran to an 11th-place finish in the finals in a time of 8:47.54. He reached the finals by running a personal-best time of 8:40.94 in a preliminary heat.
In his first trip as a sophomore in 2002, Dieckfoss finished in 8:49.04 in the premilinaries, falling two spots shy of qualifying for the finals.
