Vesty, Omonzane Highlight Academic All-PL Honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Junior Karsen Vesty and senior Peace Omonzane of the Boston University track & field program were both named Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the year on Wednesday afternoon, the league announced.
The Terriers swept the Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors for the third straight indoor season, marking the first time in Patriot League history a single program has won both awards in the same indoor season three seasons in a row, and the first time a team has swept the awards in four overall years.
Peace Omonzane - Sr. - Scholar-Athlete of the Year and Academic All-Patriot League Team
Omonzane earned her first career Scholar-Athlete of the Year award after earning her third straight and fourth overall Patriot League Field Athlete of the Meet at the 2026 Patriot League Indoor Championships. She earned gold medals in the long jump and triple jump, breaking meet records in both events with marks of 6.22m and 13.21m, respectively. Her long jump mark was also a school record indoors. The Brampton, Ontario native is now a three-time Academic All-Patriot League honoree, sports a 3.84 GPA and is majoring in Psychology.
Adrienne Buettner-Cable - Jr. - Academic All-Patriot League Team
Earning her second career Academic All-PL nod, Buettner-Cable was the bronze medalist in the 3000m and took fourth in the 5000m at the Patriot League Indoor Championships to bring home 11 team points for the 2026 champions. Having achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA in four out of five semesters at BU, the Des Moines, Iowa native has a 3.98 GPA and is majoring in health science.
Ijeoma Ezechukwu - Sr. - Academic All-Patriot League Team
Ezechukwu took home her second career Academic All-PL honor after nabbing silver medals in the 200m and 4x400m at the 2026 Patriot League Indoor Championships, helping BU win the meet with her 14 points. The Shirley, Massachusetts native has a GPA of 3.84 and is majoring in public health.
Ellie Roan - Sr. - Academic All-Patriot League Team
Roan was named to her first Academic All-PL team after winning gold in the weight throw and silver in the shot put at the 2026 Patriot League Indoor Championships, making her the highest-scoring thrower at the meet. The Sebastopol, California native is majoring in public relations with an event management & public relations minor and sports a 3.30 GPA.
Jada Smith - Sr. - Academic All-Patriot League Team
Smith picked up her first career Academic All-Patriot League nod after she was named the Track Athlete of the Meet and Highest Point Scorer at the 2026 Patriot League Indoor Championships. She accumulated 30 points through gold medals in the 60m and 200m and silver medals in the long jump and 4x400m relay. On top of those wins, she set the school and meet record of 7.42 seconds in the 60m prelims and tied the school and meet record of 23.73 seconds in the 200m final. A Wellington, Florida native, Smith has a 3.38 GPA and is majoring in biology.

Vesty picked up his second career Scholar-Athlete of the Year honor after winning the award during the outdoor season in 2025. He won a gold medal in the mile at the Patriot League Indoor Championships, finishing in 4:05.02, and also helped the Terriers win silver in the 4x800m and distance medley relay. Now a four-time Academic All-Patriot League honoree over all three seasons (cross country, indoor, outdoor), the Havelock North, New Zealand native has a 3.92 GPA and is majoring in mechanical engineering.
Micah Perry - Jr. - Academic All-Patriot League Team
Perry earned his first Academic All-PL nod after winning the 60m hurdles and finishing fourth in the long jump at the 2026 Patriot League Indoor Championships. The Gresham, Oregon native currently has a 3.84 GPA and is majoring in business administration and management with a concentration in corporate finance.
Luke Riordan - So. - Academic All-Patriot League Team
Riordan was named to his first Academic All-PL honor after winning silver in the weight throw with a 19.70m throw and taking seventh in the shot putt at the 2026 Patriot League Indoor Championships. The Florham Park, New Jersey native has a 3.61 GPA and is majoring in health studies.
