Curry Named Hockey East Player of the Week

BOSTON ??? Junior John Curry (Shorewood, Minn.) was named the Hockey East CCM/RBK Hockey Player of the Week for his outstanding contributions to the Boston University men???s ice hockey team over the past week, as announced by the league on Nov. 7.

The goalie, who ranked ninth in the nation last season with a 1.96 goals-against average in 33 games, earned back-to-back wins against top-10 teams that had each been on seven-game win streaks.

Versus No. 6 Vermont on Friday (Nov. 4), he stopped 19-of-21 shots for the 4-2 victory. He then followed it up with an impressive outing at No. 2 Maine, making a season-high 37 saves on 38 shots, including 19 in the third period, for a 2-1 BU win.

Curry was previously named to the Hockey East Honor Roll on Oct. 17 for an 18-save performance in the Terriers??? 3-1 win over UMass Lowell on Oct. 15. As a sophomore last season, he was twice named the league???s Goaltender of the Month, while also earning Player of the Week honors twice and Defensive Player of the Week accolades twice.

Sophomore Peter MacArthur (Clifton Park, N.Y.) was also recognized for his efforts last week, earning a spot on the Honor Roll for scoring two goals, including the game-winner, versus Vermont on Nov. 4. He leads the Terrier team with four goals and an assist for five points, while he is ranked 13th nationally with 1.00 points per game.

The Terriers return to action on Friday (Nov. 11) versus New Hampshire at Agganis Arena at 7:00 p.m.
