Terriers Open Agganis Arena With Win Over Catamounts, 75-42

BOSTON - In its first-ever game at the new Agganis Arena, the Boston University women's basketball team defeated Vermont, 75-42, in front of a program-record 1,727 fans on Saturday, Feb. 12.
Senior forward Larissa Parr (Eau Claire, WI) tied a career-high with 24 points to lead all scorers.
The crowd of 1,727 bested previous home attendance record of 1,426 set at Case Gymnasium when B.U. hosted Old Dominion on Feb. 6, 1982.
B.U. (11-10, 6-6) built a 36-24 lead at the half behind Parr's 13 first-half points. Lani Boardman scored 11 of her team-high 17 points before break to keep Vermont (10-11, 6-6) within striking distance.
The Terriers scored 12 unanswered points to hedge a 53-30 lead at 11:37 in the half. Red-shirt sophomore Katie Meinhardt (San Francisco, CA) hit a lay-up and a three-pointer from the corner during the run.
B.U. led by more than 30 points for the final eight minutes of game and junior guard Rachael Vanderwal's (Stoney Creek, ONT) three-point play gave the Terriers their largest lead of the game, 73-35, with 2:48 to go in regulation.
Vanderwal finished with 14 points and eight rebounds. Freshman guard Corinne Jean (Victoriaville, QUE) had 10 points and senior forward Adrienne Norris (Delafield, WI) led the Terriers on the glass, grabbing nine boards to go along with her nine points.
Boardman had a game-high 10 rebounds to go along with her team-high 17 points. Katie McNamara added 10 points.
B.U. held Vermont to a 23.1 shooting percentage in the game, including a 7-of-38 (18.4%) performance in the second half. The Terriers also forced 15 turnovers which resulted in a game-high nine steals. Norris led the Terriers with three steals.
B.U. hits the road for a game at Stony Brook on Wednesday, Feb. 16, at 7:00 p.m. The Terriers return to Agganis Arena for a doubleheader against Northeastern on Sunday, Feb. 20. The women's teams will play at 1:00 p.m., followed by the men's game at 4:00 p.m. Both games will be televised on NESN.
