Men's Tennis Falls to Buffalo, Montreal

BOSTON - The Boston University men's tennis team opened up the spring portion of its schedule with a pair of home matches this weekend, dropping a 6-1 decision to Buffalo on Friday evening before being edged, 4-3, by Montreal on Sunday.
Sophomore Jared Kobren earned BU's lone point against Buffalo, posting a 7-6 (5), 6-3 victory in the second singles match against Nikesh Singh Panthlia. Kobren also helped BU earn a win at first doubles, teaming up with junior Barrett Wolf in a tight 9-7 win. Freshman Miron Nissim won his first set, 6-3, against Yules Hadisubroto at third singles, but Hadisubroto rallied by capturing the next two sets (6-2, 6-1).
After sweeping all three doubles matches against Montreal, BU won just two of its singles matches and fell 4-3.
Senior Giulio Gallorotti and junior Ross Lohr trailed 7-4 in their second doubles match, but rallied by winning five straight games in a 9-7 triumph. The third doubles team of freshman Miron Nissim and sophomore Philip DeMeo also pulled off a comeback, winning 8-6 after trailing 5-2. Wolf and Kobren posted a dominating 8-1 win to complete the doubles sweep.
Wolf and Kobren were victorious in two sets at first and second singles, respectively. The match of the day was at fifth singles, as Galloratti took on David Trudeau in a four-hour marathon for the team match point. Trudeau prevailed, 6-3, 6-7, 7-5.
The Terriers will return to action on Sunday, Jan. 29, when they continue their seven-match homestand with their America East opener against New Hampshire. The match is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
