BOSTON - The nomination process for the Hobey Baker Award will come to a close this Sunday, Jan. 15, before voting begins on Jan. 16. Fans may click here to nominate as many players as they would like for consideration in the balloting and each player with at least 25 nominations will be placed on the Preliminary Voting ballot.
Currently, eight BU men's ice hockey players, including Brad Zancanaro, John Curry, Pete MacArthur, John Laliberte, Karson Gillespie, Brandon Yip, David Van der Gulik and Dan Spang, will make the prelim ballot for college hockey’s most prestigious honor that is given annually to the top NCAA Division I men’s ice hockey player in the country.
Terriers have landed in the top 10 a total of 10 times in the 25-year history of the award, with the pinnacle coming in 1998 when BU four-year standout Chris Drury won the esteemed trophy.
Once the nominating process is complete, preliminary voting will take place from Jan. 16-March 5, followed by final voting from March 17-27. The winner will be announced on April 7 in conjunction with the Men’s Frozen Four in Milwaukee, Wis.
