BOSTON – Junior goaltender John Curry (Shorewood, Minn.) earned recognition from the league for the 12th time this season when he was named the Hockey East Pure Hockey Defensive Player of the Week on Feb. 13. It marked the third time he received the honor, while he was the league’s top overall player on another occasion and has made the Honor Roll eight times.
The Terrier netminder ran the team’s win streak to 10 straight with a 5-3 victory over Harvard in the first round of the Beanpot, which included a 23-save third period, followed by a 19-save shutout versus UMass. In his 12-consecutive wins, he holds a 1.59 goals-against average and .932 save percentage with three shutouts. In addition, Curry in the reigning Hockey East Goaltender of the Month and currently ranks ninth in the nation in winning percentage (.708).
Two other Terriers were also recognized for their efforts last week, as freshman Jason Lawrence (Saugus, Mass.) and junior Kenny Roche (South Boston, Mass.) both made their way onto the Honor Roll.
Lawrence notched the game-winning goal and two assists in his first Beanpot appearance versus Harvard to make the Honor Roll for the first time, while Roche scored two-of-three BU goals in a 3-0 blanking of UMass.
The Terriers return to action this weekend in a home-and-home series with the University of New Hampshire starting on Friday night at Agganis Arena. The game is set for 7:00 p.m. and can be seen live on NESN.
