BOSTON – Boston University men’s ice hockey forward Chris Higgins (Plymouth, Mass.) was named the Hockey East Superskills Hockey Rookie of the Week on March 27 for the second time this season following his hat trick in the first round of the NCAA tournament. It was the first time in his young career that he scored multiple goals in a game.
In Friday night’s 9-2 victory over the University of Nebraska-Omaha, Higgins netted the quickest three goals in regional history, as the trio of tallies came in a 5:31 span. It was also the fourth-fastest hat trick in NCAA tournament history and was the first of his career.
For his efforts, he was also named to the All-Tournament Team, along with junior blueliner Sean Sullivan (Braintree, Mass.), who set up three of the nine BU goals in the first-round win.
The Terriers finished their successful 2005-06 campaign with a 26-10-4 record, the Beanpot championship and both the Hockey East regular-season and tournament titles.
