BOSTON – After a five-point weekend effort to lead the No. 3 Boston University men’s ice hockey team to the Hockey East regular-season title, sophomore forward Pete MacArthur (Clifton Park, N.Y.) was selected as the Hockey East CCM/RBK Hockey Player of the Week, as announced on Monday by the league. It is the first such honor for MacArthur, while he was named to the Honor Roll five times throughout the season and was the runner-up for Player of the Month in January.
In Friday night’s 5-3 win over Northeastern, MacArthur set up two goals, including the power-play game-winner with under 2:30 to go in the game. He followed up the performance on Saturday with another pair of assists, followed by the game-winning and regular-season title-winning goal as the Terriers claimed the league crown for the first time since 2000. With six points in the last three games, he took over the team scoring lead with 34 points (13-21), while he leads the league and is fourth in the country with six game-winners.
Two other Terriers were also recognized for their efforts last week, as senior defenseman Dan Spang (Winchester, Mass.) and senior co-captain Brad Zancanaro (Trenton, Mich.) made their way onto the Honor Roll.
Spang scored two goals in Friday’s 5-3 win at Northeastern, including one on the power play, while keeping the Huskies to 17 shots and leading BU with eight shots. Meanwhile, Zancanaro set up four of 10 goals in two wins, including three of five on Friday.
The Terriers open postseason action with a best-of-three series with Massachusetts beginning on Friday night at Agganis Arena.
