BOSTON - The Boston University men's tennis team (0-1) dropped a tough 4-3 decision to Hofstra (1-1-1) in the first dual match of the 2008-09 season on Friday afternoon in the Track and Tennis Center. The Pride won two of the three doubles matches and three of the six singles points for the victory.
Three singles contests went to the third set, but BU's Miron Nissim was the only Terrier to pull out a victory at No. 3, defeating Tytus Stempniewicz, 6-1, 2-6, 6-1. BU's Stefan Toubia had a quick No. 5 match for the team's first point of the day, easily earning a 6-0, 6-0 win over Eric Gladstone. The third point was a result of a Hofstra default.
In doubles action, the Pride's Nenad Radakovic/Matt Wacks earned the clinching point at No. 2, winning the tiebreaker for a 9-8 (7-3) victory over Nissim/Jeff Chudacoff.
