WAKEFIELD, Mass. - After backstopping the Boston University women's ice hockey team to a hot start that has garnered the program its first national ranking in team history, senior goaltender Allyse Wilcox has been named the Hockey East ITECH Goaltender of the Month for October, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
Wilcox went 3-1-2 in the month of October with a 1.95 goals-against average and .931 save percentage. The Grand Blanc, Mich., native went 2-0-2 in four games against nationally ranked opponents and gave up two goals or fewer in all six starts. Wilcox also registered 30+ saves on three occasions over the month, including a season-best 34-save performance in the Terriers' shootout win at No. 5 New Hampshire on Thursday.
She was also selected as the league's Pure Hockey Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after helping BU to shootout wins over New Hampshire and Providence.
A first-team all-star in Hockey East last season and BU's primary netminder since the program's inception in 2005, Wilcox has a 34-36-10 career record with five shutouts and a 2.32 GAA and .918 save percentage.
Wilcox and the seventh-ranked Terriers are back in action on Nov. 14, travelling to the Garden State to kick off a five-game road stretch at Princeton.
