WAKEFIELD, Mass. - For the third time this season, Boston University freshman forward Jenelle Kohanchuk has been honored as the Women's Hockey East Mission Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday. Kohanchuk was involved in all three goals as the sixth-ranked Terriers skated to a shootout win after a 3-3 tie with seventh-ranked New Hampshire on Sunday at Walter Brown Arena.
Kohanchuk opened the scoring for the Terriers at 2:36 in the first period and then assisted on third-period goals by freshman Tara Watchorn and junior Melissa Anderson to even the score and send the game towards overtime. It was the third three-point game for the Winnipeg, Man., native in 16 games this season.
The rookie center is tied for the team lead in scoring with 18 points off seven goals and 11 assists and is also tied for the league lead in scoring amongst freshmen.
The sixth-ranked Terriers are back in action on Wednesday (Dec. 10) at 5 p.m., hosting ninth-ranked Hockey East rival Boston College at Walter Brown Arena.
