BOSTON - Following a prolific week where senior forward Jesyka Burks-Wiley helped lead the Boston University women's basketball team to a 2-0 start in America East action, the Kansas City, Mo., native has repeated as the America East Player of the Week. The conference made the announcement on Monday.
Burks-Wiley averaged 21.0 points per game and 9.0 rpg in two victories last week, which included a career-best 24 points vs. Vermont (Jan. 10). Over the two games, she shot 56.0 percent from the field and added three steals, one block and assist.
To start the week, she collected her third double-double of the season at Stony Brook with 18 points and 13 rebounds, and followed that up with her 24-point performance against the preseason league favorite Catamounts. BU now sits at the top of the America East standings as one of only two unbeaten teams. The senior forward is now just 39 points away from reaching the 1,000-point plateau.
