
Men's Swimming and Diving Defeats Tufts, 176-122

Medford, Mass. - The Boston University men's swimming and diving team remained undefeated in dual meets with a 176-122 victory over Tufts on Sunday afternoon. Sophomores Kyle Ernst and Bryon Kallert, along with freshmen Jackson Hill and Daniel Kempf and junior Ben Kaiser were multiple-event winners as the Terriers improve to a perfect 8-0 on the season.
The 200-yard medley relay team got things going for the Terriers with a winning time of one minute, 36.53 seconds. Kallert led off, and was followed by Ernst, sophomore Matt Rickett and Hill swam the anchor leg.
Kaiser picked up his first victory of the afternoon with a win in the 1,000 free, clocking in at 10:05.28. Sophomore Mark Nakanishi touched second with a time of 10:09.69. Later on, Kaiser took to the pool in the 500 free and claimed his second first-place finish with a time of 4:51.77.
After leading off the meet with a win in the 200-medley relay, Kallert switched to the individual events and continued in his winning ways with victories in the 100 back (53.88) and 200 back (1:56.34), respectively. In the latter event, freshman Justin Gilmartin placed second with a time of 1:59.89.
Kempf picked up wins in the 200 fly (1:59.32) and 100 fly (52.84). In the 200 fly, he was followed closely by Nakanishi as the duo clocked in nearly two seconds ahead of the rest of the competition.
Ernst also won multiple events as he claimed first in the 200 breaststroke (2:11.25) and 200 IM (1:59.65), while Hill won the 50 free (22.00) and 100 free (47.06).
Junior Arik Seiler won the 200 free in 1:44.07 and later on placed second in the 100 free, touching the wall in 48.04.
Sophomore Tanner Knorr led the pack of divers on the one-meter board with a score of 323.48 and placed second in the three-meter with a score of 261.98.
BU returns to the pool on Wednesday, Feb. 4, at cross-town rival Boston College at 7 p.m.
