BOSTON - After earning a hard-fought doubles point, Fairfield captured five of the six singles points to defeat he Boston University men's tennis team, 6-1, on Sunday afternoon at the Track and Tennis Center. Junior Jeff Chudacoff won both of his singles and doubles matches, as the Terriers dropped to 1-7 and the Stags improved to 4-0.
In doubles, Chudacoff along with Charles Weinstein picked up an easy victory with an 8-2 decision over Joe Michalisin/Rob Ferrante at No. 1, but Fairfield came back to pick up the next contests for the point. Ryan Berthod/Dan Sauter were down a break but came back to defeat Tim Sichler / Bill Kring, 9-7, and Chip Palumbo/Chris Bane slipped by James Bernstein / Regis Chang, 8-6, in the No. 3 match.
For singles, Chudacoff won for the second time of the day, knocking off Berthod, 6-4, 6-3, in the No. 1 contest. Chang was the other Terrier to win a set before falling to Aaron Chan, 6-7 (7-3), 6-0, 10-7 at No. 5.
The Terriers return to action next Sunday (March 1), as they host Bryant University with action set to begin at 10 a.m.
