
Wildcats Slip by Terriers, 4-3

BOSTON - Seniors Jeff Chudacoff and Charles Weinstein each captured a singles point and worked together for a doubles victory, but the Terriers were unable to sustain the rally, falling 4-3 to Villanova Saturday afternoon at the Tennis and Track Center. The match came down to the final singles point, which the Wildcats' Mike Taylor earned with a 2-6, 6-1, 6-3 victory over Regis Chang.
Villanova won two of the three doubles contests for the first point and then won three of the six sinlges matches, as the Terriers dropped to 1-12 on the season. The result marked the fourth one-point loss for BU.
With a 1-0 lead over BU, Zach Siegler swept Alex Green, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6, and Brian Maher pulled out a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 2 over Bill Kring for the Wildcats' third point.
Chudacoff put BU on the board with a 6-0, 7-6(5) victory over Alex Leeser at No. 1. Two Terriers then rallied from one set deficits to pull out three-set wins. No. 3 Weinstein defeated Dave Shaheen, 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 and No. 4 Tim Sichler earned a 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 decision over Trenton Alenik before Taylor captured the last point for Villanova.
In doubles play, Chudacoff/Weinstein earned an 8-5 win at No. 1 over Leeser/Drosick, but the Wildcats pulled out the other two victories for the all-important doubles point.
The Terriers return to action next Saturday at Sacred Heart with action set to start at 12 p.m.
