BOSTON - Senior Kristi Dini can add one more accolade to her storied career with the Boston University women's basketball team as she caps off a banner season as the 2009 NCAA Division I statistical champion for 3-point field goals made per game. Dini averaged 3.3 treys per game, breaking single-season (109) and career records (208) at BU.
One of the most clutch shooters in the program's history, Dini made it a habit of hitting game-changing shots and in 2008-09 she was honored as an America East All-Conference Third Team selection.
This season alone, the Putnam Valley, N.Y., native sent the Terriers' game into overtime at Hartford (Feb. 24) with a triple from the corner spot with eight seconds remaining. The squad went on to win the game and eventually finish the America East regular-season undefeated. That 3-pointer also broke a single-season conference record.
In 2008-09, Dini drained five or more 3-pointers on 10 occasions and boasted a 12-game streak where she hit at least one trey from Dec. 3, 2008 to Feb. 4, 2009 - a span of over two months.
Dini and her classmates will graduate from Boston University as the all-time winningest class in program history with 78 career victories and a .624 winning percentage.
